Hello All,
I am new to this forum, so excuse me if I am in not in the correct area. I have a question about Sun UltraSPARC-II (dual 64-bit procs)(also new to this hardware). Machine was running fine when removed from service and having all disks wiped, aprox 15-30 days past. I wish to use FreeBSD or Linux, have DL'd the ISOs, made the Cds, but cannot get this system to boot. It doesn';t seem to be accessing the CDROM when the "boot cdrom" command is given via the BootPROM process. I have DL'd the manuals from SUN, and discovered how to get into the BootPROM to issue the command. The drives are all SCSI, and are correctly identified when "probe-scsi" is issued.
Being a "novice" to SUN equipment, I suspect the problem is my lack of knowledge. (I have tried 3 different SCSI CDROMs - all are seen and identified by probe-scsi), so any suggestions, hints, directions or SWAGs, would be appreciated.

Moved to it's own topic.
I have no experience with Sun equipment, sorry to say. Maybe someone here has?

[edit] Did find a bit of info here:

Are you sure that you have downloaded the correct CPU architecture ISO's (Sparc)? And that you have correctly burned the ISO's?

Edit: Out of curiousity, what distribution did you choose?
