View Full Version : Another bios problem XD *i hate old motherboards*
Well i am getting "non system disk error replace disk and press enter i have tried sys:C*i really dunno what that means i don't have an os installed yet so i did not think it would help* not to mention i have tried it with no floppy disk in drive and i get the same message ...i am stumped..beond stumped * the hdd is accepted in the bois *it detects it* i have tried another hdd with a os already on it and it gets the "TYpe the name of the command interpreter (e.g., c:\windows\command.com" but it works fine on other computers XD...should i just kick these motherboards? Lol thank you for your help bear.:hammer3: :hammer3: :hammer3: :hammer3: .
When you insert the boot floppy, and restart, is that when you get the non-system disk error? By the way, "sys C:" means (if you're currently in the floppy drive that contains the boot files) it will copy the system files to the C: drive, making it bootable. The format is SYS [drive1:][path] drive2: The first parts are not needed if you've already mounted the floppy.
If you're getting this error with all drives, look to the cables and/or mobo. Are you sure the main drive is attached to the correct IDE connector on the mobo, it's a proper cable, and free of defects?
to tell the truth, it does sound like the mobos are in need of a new BIOS, or tossin'.
Well i get the message if the floppy is or isnt in there....It dosent seem to matter :(.
Is is set to boot from floppy? Is the floppy cable working? Sounds like it's going straight to the HDD...

See that is what it is doing..and i have boot order set to fdd cdrom hdd i just replaced the cable and same thing.
I may give up ever starting this machine...lol i got it to my windows 98 boot disk...i tried to fdisk format and install.....it dosent detect the hdd now WHAT THE ****!!1!!!!111oneoneone!!!!111
So it now detected the floppy, and not the HDD?
Forget these mobos....something quite wrong here.
No, images in sigs are bad ;)
Hmm so theres no way i can get this running? Fine then i suppose i can find ebay for a slot 1 motherboard :D.
Hard to say from here.
You say the cables are fine.
You say the drives are fine.
That leaves the mobo?
Just for laughs, are you sure the HDD jumpers are set correctly, and they are hooked into the proper (primary) IDE slot on the mobo....and the HDD is on the proper connector on the IDE cable (the furthest one)?
The floppy: properly connected, power cable hooked in at both ends, and all that?
Yeah i am sure about all of that : \.
Worth checking before spending for new mobos, perhaps. ;)
