Hey Bear, looks like you have a great forum here in the making, I run www.forumpostersunion.com :o

We review and discuss forums, we even have directories that send visitors your way, one of the main questions we always ask forum owners about are their signature policies for contributors!

What are yours here

Nothing complicated. ;)

I did not see anything about signatures or no follows, what is your policy?

I also notice when clicking on my user name I could not access my post information and history!

Why is this feature disabled?

Here's the relevant bits in the rules I told you there wasn't much)
Not sure what a "no follow" is. Can you explain?
- No spamming your forum or site. Links in sigs are okay, but keep it reasonable (reasonable is up to *our* discretion).
- No links or help will be given or tolerated for illegal sites/products, up to and including warez, MP3's, cracks, serials and so on. Posts with that sort of content will be removed, and the user warned.
- No linking to vulgar images or video, such as anything depicting graphic violence, gross injury, animal cruelty or objectional material of any kind is allowed.
- No affiliate or referral links in your posts or signatures. (affiliate links are those that link to a site, and contain information crediting the person with that referral).

As for the options being missing, forgive me, that's a result of restrictive 'new member' settings to avoid spammers. Your next post gives you 5, which should promote you to a "normal" member.

Why is your signature not live Bear

Why is it broken up like it is

You need to learn about "No Follow", a good start is reading the threads in this forum!

You know that you can submit this forum to our directories at the above forum and also you can introduce it to the community in our forums introduction section, I do the approvals so you have a good chance of getting in our computing forums directory if you submit.

Not live, broken up? I don't understand...
See the screen shot which shows what I see.

As for nofollow, unless we start seeing a lot of spamminess, I don't want to implement anything like that. If things get out of hand, I'll deal with it per user for now, not punishing the whole board for the actions of a few. ;)

[EDIT] See if that doesn't fix it. It was a usergroup setting that disallows certain things for brand new users, among them, posting (and apparently seeing) URLs. We do have *some* anti-spam things in place, after all. :shakehead

We have a hack installed that does not allow live links in posts or a signature until a member has 10 posts, that works fine, if a member is a blatant spammer we just ban them right away!

Now I can see live links and your signature is live too!

I think you need to move to the same hack we have that you can get at the vB.org forum.

If you need help join up over at our place and send our technical administrator Nintendo a PM and he will set you up with the information!

Tell him Anthony sent you and he will be happy to help you, or just start a thread over there and ask him!

Thanks, but I already have something in place for this, and it's native to VB. It's called promotions. Set the default usergroup to disallow certain things, and promote based on activity to a group with more abilities. Used in conjunction with the BBcode hack, it works fine.
Thanks, though...I've been administering VB forums ( as well as IPB, PHPBB, WOWBB and a few others) for a few years now, and can install most any hack. Even wrote one. ;)
