How do you know that overheating is the cause of the shutdown?
(I agree it sounds likely, but need to know if there's any indication)

What's overheating, the CPU?
Better heatsink would probably improve this, depending on type and manufacturer.

Here's a Google search (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=motherboard+temperature+monitor+software&btnG=Google+Search) for temperature monitoring software. If your motherboard has a sensor built in, you should be able to check what's going on with one of these. If it doesn't, you might have to buy a sensor, install, then monitor.
It's the only way to tell what's going on, temperature wise.

Fans don't always run, but if the case is at 58C and it's not running, you might have a problem. That's 136.4 Fahrenheit.

Have a read here:

ok i started playing runescape and cpu fan went up to 3245 rpm and the cpu temp was still rising all the way up to 129 cel and boom overcclocked

Not exactly. Overclocking is changing the operating frequency of the processor to gain additional speed. Maybe you meant overheating?

Your only hope to cool this off is to change the type of cooling on the processor. A better heatsink, better case fans and all that. Start off with cleaning all the fans of debris, the CPU fan, case fan and PSU fan(s) as well.
Shut down first, unplug everything and ground yourself before touching anything Use compressed air, carefully, to blow out any accumulated dust or hair, etc from all the fans. It may do nothing, or it might help.

hmm well i have no compressed air and if i take the heatsink off i need therma pads then righit??

Do not take the heatsink off. Buy some compressed air.

erm k what if mom saied she would rather get a new fan ..

Don't follow you here. Are you saying that you'd rather buy and install a new CPU cooling fan than to buy a $3 can of compressed air? If the overheating is due to the other fan(s) not doing an adequate job, you'd be in the same situation, only poorer.

If you really want to go the installation route, then yes, you'd have to clear off the old heatsink, fan and thermal grease/tape. The CPU itself is pretty fragile, so be very careful.

You should also make sure that the air intakes at the front of the case are also very clean, allowing incoming air. The trick is to have a good movement of air in and through the case. It might also help to have additional case fan(s).

You might mention that if the $1,000+ system burns out, it's trash. A cheap can of compressed air might help prevent that. Besides, you can probably manually clean the air intakes, and even most of the fans, if you're careful.
Have you visually inspected the fans and case interior to see if they're clogged with dust or hair? If you can easily see they're dirty, there you go, they need cleaning.

None of my business how old you are, but from the time I was 12 I found myself jobs to pay for things I needed. I cut lawns, raked leaves, shoveled snow, delivered papers, did odd jobs for neighbors and a few other things. Maybe there's something you can be doing to pay for your own equipment purchases...

well yeah there is that yes i did mention that if the computer overheats and she would thean have to but a new prosesor knowing her she'd proboley get one of those celes cause they are cheaper lol :p and yezah they are pretty dirty.....erm yes the jobs.... but yeah i proboley could be doing more than i do....anyways thanks bear.
