Alright, so my room of the new house would be very hard to sufficiently run cable into, and so I got to thinking about the new wireless cable boxes I've seen. From what I've read about them, they're supposed to be able to carry enough bandwidth to send streaming video wirelessly, but it just seems a little iffy. I'd think the range would be a bit low, with easy interference. Not too sure about it.

Any of you guys use one, or hear anything I should know about them before I go out and buy one?

I've heard (no personal experience) that your range will be maybe 40 feet unobstructed, and that if you get the 2.4Ghz models, then all sorts of devices can interfere (microwaves, portable phones, etc). The 5.8Ghz spectrum is less populated, and less likely to have interference, at least for now.

Just like with wireless internet, things in the wall may cause issues such as metal clad wiring and wire mesh (some plaster applications in the home may use "chicken wire" as a backing).
Hope that helps at all.

Hm, alright. Time to spend more money. I'll run over to Best Buy sometime this weekend when I get a chance and see what they have.
