Question ftp

There must be something wrong with my IE browser.
I am using Win98 with IE 6.0.
I have tried to access the FTP of my friend, Jenny; but the browser just said the web page can't be accessed or requested!
I, then, asked her not to set any UserID and Password, but the problem's still there!
As a result, I have to use a third party software, CuteFTP to access the FTP.

It used to be OK for any FTP I tried to access, but now all FTPs become
non-accessible!

Please help if you can!

I've never used IE for FTP, after trying it once or twice and having it completely crash Windows. Is it a problem using the real FTP clients you mentioned?

If it works via FTP program over port 21, it would also work for IE, no?
This is an IE problem, or the server(s) itself. Find out if the server allows anonymous FTP. If it doesn't that might be the cause (unless of course the FTP cleint is using anon as well).

More on ports and FTP:

Kwokwai. you might find this useful, as it describes how to change the "mode" from PORT to PASV, which might just fix this.

I was sorry that I had made a mistake for what I said!

It should be that I couldn't see this option in IE setting: "Enable Folder View for FTP sites"!
